MAYKE NAS | GAUDEAMUSWEEK 2005 |

![]() |
The Gaudeamusweek is always one of the most exciting weeks of the year for me. During seven or eight days you get the chance to hear new compositions from young composers all over the world; be surprised, touched, irritated, inflamed and inspired; get completely insecure about your work the one minute and get into an invigorating debate the next; have a concentrated time for rethinking all your beliefs and possible preconceptions about contemporary music; and - very importantly - get drunk with some newly made friends after late night concerts. This year I stalked participants and visitors with a camera the whole week, interviewing them when they were at their most vulnerable, firing point-blank questions at them and using their answers for three short films that were shown during the last concert with the Schönberg Ensemble. I hereby wish to thank everyone who agreed to participate for their patience, honesty, guts, seriousness and humour. Click on one of the questions to watch a film. |
